Making Cents of Amazon.com’s Giving Programs

AmazonSmileIn 2013 Amazon.com started the AmazonSmile program, described on their website as “a simple and automatic way for you to support your favorite charitable organization every time you shop, at no cost to you.” And although technically true, purchasing on Amazon.com by FIRST entering through the www.gadisciples.org website is a far better way to support your favorite charitable organization (which we are hoping, of course, is the Outdoor Ministries of the Christian Church in Georgia.)

Here’s why. Although Amazon.com has nearly a million organizations you can choose to support, only 0.5% (that’s a half cent of every dollar) goes to any organization you support, including the Christian Church in Georgia which can be found in their listing. See “Why Amazon is Smiling and Charities May be Losing” http://www.huffingtonpost.com/brady-josephson/why-amazon-is-smiling-and_b_4360405.html. In contrast, when you purchase from Amazon.com by entering through the www.gadisciples.org website, 6% (that’s 6 cents of every dollar) goes to specifically support the camping and outdoor ministries of the Christian Church in Georgia.

Of course, we appreciate any charitable giving that supports Camp Christian. But with the holiday shopping season just around the corner, if you want to maximize your support, remember to start your Amazon.com shopping through the www.gadisciples.org website. Giving just doesn’t get any easier than this!
