 Annual Work Day Schedule May 3, 2008
We will begin with donuts and coffee at 8:30. Work
will begin at 9:00 with lunch and brief celebration worship. Work will
conclude in mid afternoon.
- Continue Installation of Emergency Exit windows
in Summer Cabins
- Maintenance on Cabins replacing shutters
- Floors Repainted and wall touch up in Cabin
Bathhouse fixed to drain properly
- Make an addition to the Challenge Course.
- General Clean Up around the camp
- Mowing and chain saw work
- Other projects will be added to this list
No reservations are needed to attend the Annual Work
Day but please e-mail the camp to let them know you are coming at
camp@gadisciples.org so
they can know how much lunch to prepare.
MAINTENANCE NEEDS OF THE
CONFERENCE CENTER
PLEASE HELP US BY GIVING THE GIFT OF CAMPING!
Can you or your organization help pay for some of the
maintenance work that needs to be done at our facilities? The Conference
Center has a modest budget allocated for maintenance. Most years this
funding has been adequate. Our needs exceed our funding in 2008 and we
are asking if you can help. We need your talents and your gifts in order
to accomplish our goals. Thank you for looking over this list of
financial needs and selecting how you can help in 2008.
Projects range in cost from $200 to $12,000. Please
help us however you can by sending a designated gift to the regional
office for Camp Christian Work Projects. Please note which project
you want to fund. Much of this work will be done
by volunteers who love our camp. The work will be done at our Annual
Work Day and during our Adult Work Retreat. Project Needs List
- 10 windows installed to make our summer cabins
safer for use. The Purchase and installation of one window cost
around $200 or all 10 can be funded with a $2,000 gift.
- It is no fun to get your clothes wet when you are
taking a shower. Unfortunately our bath house has a few low spots
and does not drain properly. Could you help us with a $500 gift for
the men’s or women’s side? $1,000 will pay for the supplies needed
to repair the floors and repaint and touch up the bath house.
- We desperately need to replace the rolled roofing
on Lavery Hall. Leaks are no fun. Your gift for this program will
help our youth program and our Conference Center ministries. You can
re-roof 1/10 for $1,000 and the whole roof for just over $10,000. We
were planning to have this professionally done but now have an
experienced volunteer crew considering funding and installing this
roof. Let’s pray that they can help with this ministry.
- Exterior Painting on Peachtree Conference Center,
Woodland Lodge, pool house and bath house fascia boards will cost
about $700 for paint and supplies.
- Supplies for additions and improvements to our
challenge course will cost $250 with volunteers doing the work.
- Re-painting and maintenance on all walls in
Woodland Lodge done by a contractor for work in January was bid in
at about $450 per room. The cost for all 10 rooms, the hall way and
Gardner meeting room will cost about $5,850. Adults and youth use
this building year-round.
- If funding were available we would install new
tiles on our swimming pool. Can you help us with this project? Costs
are estimated to be around $12,000.
