Dr.
Ray Miles has served as the Regional Minister for the Christian Church in
Georgia since June 1, 2005. During that time his emphasis has been on a ministry
of presence, strengthening the congregations in this Region, helping them secure
quality leadership during transition and stabilizing the Region’s operations.
Ray Miles was born and raised in Alberta, Canada and is a
lifelong member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). His undergraduate
education was in elementary education and he taught school for a few years.
Following a call into ministry he graduated with a M.Div. from Lexington
Theological Seminary. He received a D.Min. in Stewardship Studies from Garrett
Evangelical Theological Seminary.
His ministry experience covers a variety of geographic
settings, and includes para-church, congregational, interim and regional
ministry positions. Immediately prior to coming to Georgia he served on the
Upper Midwest Regional Staff and as an interim on the Iowa Conference of the
United Church of Christ staff.
His passion for ministry and love for the church occupies most
of his time, however he enjoys camping and travel. Church work has taken him on
trips to Mexico, Haiti, China and sabbatical study time in Turkey and Greece.
Ray is married to Wendy Miles, also an ordained Disciple
Minister. They have two married children, and two grandchildren.
