Global Ministry Partners
|
Global Mission Partners are people
serving overseas with who we are connected. It gives us in the
United States a chance to personalize mission and the way mission is
done today. It also gives us a way to promote and explain missionary
work by talking about real people. When they are in the United
States, our mission partners will spend significant amounts of time
in our Region visiting and sharing with congregations here. We
encourage congregations to mention our mission partners in prayer
and be in contact by letter etc. Remind children of them and send
them special greetings at holiday seasons. In the fall of 2005 the
Christian Church in Georgia accepted partner relationships with
Phyllis Byrd and Xugen Dangers. For more information about either of
them contact the Regional office or the Office of Missionary
Relationships at Global Ministries in Indianapolis. |

development. He was Consulting
Pastor of Broadview Christian Church in Kansas City and was
previously Senior Pastor of North Woods Christian Church
also in Kansas City. Prior to his Kansas City assignments
Dr. Carson served for five years as Assistant Professor of
Religion at Charleston Southern University in Charleston,
South Carolina and was Pastor of Rhett Avenue Christian
Church in Charleston. He is the author of Calling Out the
Called: The Life and Work of Lee Rutland Scarborough, Eakin
Press, 1996; fourteen articles and nine academic papers. A
book-length manuscript is ready for publication and

Invisible God in a Visible World.
He is married to the former

Georgia and Emory University in Atlanta. They have one son,
William, age seven.
Reflecting upon his
appointment to the presidency of the Historical Society, Dr.
Carson commented, "The rich heritage that we share in the
Stone-Campbell tradition is not only worth preserving, it is
worth sharing. Our mission is not only the past, it is the
future as well. When we say the Disciples of Christ
Historical Society is concerned with archives and
documentation, we are, in effect, proclaiming our desire to
tell the world about our faith and our mission as
Christians."
Chairman of the Board of
Trustees, Gordon Dalrymple, who was part of the entire
search process observed, "I am very impressed with the
qualifications of Dr. Carson and believe the great
traditions of the Historical Society will be skillfully and
thoughtfully served by him." |
