Applications Being Taken for the
Charles F. Schwab Ministerial Scholarship
Trustees of the Charles F. Schwab
Ministerial Scholarship Fund of the First Christian Church of Decatur
are accepting applications for scholarships offered by the fund.
The fund is named in honor of Charles F. Schwab, who served as minister
of First of Decatur from 1942 to 1972. Awards totaling $7,000 have
been made since the inception of the fund in 1993.
Scholarships in multiples of $500 are
awarded according to the following criteria:
- Hold membership in a Christian
Church (Disciples of Christ) congregation in Georgia for at least
one year, or show evidence of having been a member of such a
congregation before beginning a college education.
- Have successfully completed one
year's requirements towards a Minister of Divinity degree at a
theological school affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples
of Christ) or other schools as approved by the trustees on a case by
case basis.
- Have a letter of recommendation of
the Dean of the institution where enrolled concerning the student's
promise for ministry.
Scholarships will be awarded by trustees
of the fund with the advise of the ministerial staff of the First
Christian Church of Decatur. In making the awards the trustees
will give consideration to academic achievement, promise for the
ministry, and financial need of the candidate.

Completed applications must be received
by July 1 or each year. |
