Charles Cochran ordained in Guyton
Newly
minted Disciples minister Charles Cochran, left, greets the Rev. Jack
Hudson following Charles’ ordination on Sunday, July 15 at Guyton
Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Hudson, too, was ordained at the
Guyton church – almost 54 years ago in August 1953. Hudson participated
in the laying on of hands that marked Charles’ entry into ordained
ministry.
The structure of Charles’ ordination reflected the
traditional Disciples emphasis on Christian unity. A United Methodist
minister, the Rev. Earl Seckinger, delivered the ordination sermon. The
Rev. Cohen Arms, a Southern Baptist minister, offered a formal
ecumenical greeting.
Charles is a second-career minister, having spent most
of the past 25 years as a reporter and editor working for Georgia
newspapers. He lives in Guyton with his wife, Julia.
