| Mother’s Day morning brought situations to many people
in Georgia unlike what they had expected. Tornadoes raced through
Georgia and damage was extensive. At this point there is no damage I
have discovered to any Disciple facilities. The Regional Office and the
Camp escaped without damage. Disciples congregations in Macon and Dublin
have not reported any damage to the facility. In Macon, two members of
St. Andrew Christian Church have had damage to their homes. One member
of Tr5inikty Christian ( a new church start) has had damage and our
Regional CWF president Ann Haines had a tree come down on her house and
car. The Regional Minister Ray Miles has had no power to his home
since Sunday morning and has been hampered in getting news of the extent
of the storm’s impact.
Sunday morning Rev. Johnny Wray, Director of Week of Compassion had
been in touch with the Regional Office to check on the situation and
offer help as it is needed. Gifts to assist those who have been impacted
and to assist in coming ecumenical efforts to aid in cleanup can be sent
to the Christian Church in Georgia designated for Week of Compassion.
Prayers for those affected are always needed.
Rev. Dr. Ray Miles
