Georgia Region Men's Retreat
Nearly
70 men of the Georgia region and a few women attended the 2002 Georgia Men's
Retreat at Christmount Christian Assembly the weekend of March 8th. We were
welcomed in the new dining hall that Christmount recently completed. It will
serve both retreat groups and campers on two separate sides. The Georgia
"Sowing Seeds" campaign includes money to buy furnishings for the
dining hall, which were dedicated while we were at the retreat.
Dr. Joseph Jeter, Homiletics professor at Brite Divinity
School was the keynote speaker. He spoke of the power and importance of words in
our lives and in the church. Layman of the year, Ray Dotson, gave an incisive
devotion on perspective in the universe, which places humans squarely in the
middle of the universe (exponentially). Troy Tatum led Friday vespers. Archie
Jenkins gave the devotion on Saturday morning. Medie Still, Men's group
President, led the business meeting on Saturday. The men adopted several
projects related to Camp. A report on Guyton Christian's mission trip to
Honduras by minister Gerald Demerast gave us insight into hands-on mission work
supported by last year's retreat. The men enjoyed great singing, led by Bob
Grant. Several men enjoyed a round of golf on Saturday afternoon. Michael Weeks
led the Bible study on Sunday morning. James Brewer-Calvert brought the Sunday
morning sermon.
