Walter White, 2008 Disciples Men Layman of the Year

Sunday January 25, 2008, Walter White was awarded the Layman of the Year award by members of the Disciples Men's commission at First Christian Church of Atlanta.  Attending for the Georgia CMF: John Anderson, Joe Austin, Medie Still, Joe Kern and Will Perdue.

Walter was born in Rock Hill, S.C.  His family moved to Decatur, Georgia when he was 2yrs old and later to Gwinnett when he was 12. He graduated from Brookwood High School in 1983 and from Gwinnett Tech in Construction and has been working in that field ever since.

Walter has been Property Chair, member of CMF and a deacon at First Christian Church of Atlanta. He is currently serving as Chairman of the Deacons and Christian Men's Fellowship President.  In the community he works extensively with Habitat for Humanity, the Cub Scout's Pinewood Derby, Atlanta Women's Day Shelter. The First Atlanta CMF puts on a breakfast for the Day Shelter once a year and Walter is instrumental in that effort.  Other CMF include a Horn of Plenty and annual Thanksgiving dinner at the Church.  Walter works at the Church Fall Festival and always helps where he is needed, jumping in every chance he gets!

Walter is employed by Richardson Housing Group building homes.  He has been married to Patsy for 15 years and they have three children (Madison 12yrs, Jacob 8yrs, and Caleb 3yrs). He has been described as friendly, straight forward, focused on others, and a man of strong family values. He is a Christian through and through, dedicated to his God and the Church. He is a faithful steward of his abilities to the church, community, Men's Ministry and activities. He is an example in his family, community and Church of a true Christian.
