YOUTH-A-PALOOZA
ADULT SPONSOR ORIENTATION
REMINDERS AND EXPECTATIONS
- Adult Sponsors at Youth-A-Palooza
- Adult sponsors must be 21 years
of age or older.
- We want you to be a full
participant in the weekend. Please, as Adult sponsors you need
to, be appropriate role models and good examples for the youth.
Attending the entire event is expected.
- Let’s share the attitude that
“My kids are your kids, your kids are my kids!”
- This is not a free week end! We
are here for the youth! They are our first priority.
- If you need to question another
adult’s decision or action, please do so away from the youth.
- The youth deserve our support
and deserve to have their own time together in their Small
Groups with other youth. Please respect this space.
- We are all to be
responsible adults: Adults like youth can be sent home for
inappropriate behavior.
- Expectations on Campus
- Honor and uphold all the event
guidelines, rules and responsibilities.
- Appropriate boundaries need to
be in place, please help in setting and keeping them.
- Please pay attention to and
respect the set schedule.
- Please help by making sure your
youth attend age appropriate activities.
- Know where your youth are and
make sure that they are safe.
- Explain your rules to your youth
and please support the rules of the event and Epworth by the
Seas rules.
- We suggest 2/3 youth be together
at all times – we do not suggest youth being alone.
- All youth attending this event
are not to smoke – smoking is cause to be sent home.
- Be aware of others who are not a
part of our Youth Assembly Community.
- We are sharing this facility
with other groups and need to be respectful of them.
- Name tags (our Meal tickets) are
important, please set an example by wearing yours.
- Youth need to be in their OWN
cabins during designated times.
- YOUTH MAY NOT BE IN CABINS OF
THE OPPOSITE SEX AT ANY TIME!!!
- Adults should not be in the
cabins of the opposite sex, except in the case of an emergency.
- Leaving Campus during the Event
- Please make sure that you
keep a copy of your youth groups Emergency Release Forms if you
plan to go off campus. It may make sense for one male and one
female sponsor to have the respective male/female forms,
especially if something was to happen in the night.
- We need you to check out
with our staff if you did not bring your own copies of the
Emergency Release forms. These forms are necessary for you to
have if you choose to go off campus.
- • We will have loosely
structured activities during free time. An Ultimate Frisbee
tournament is planned. The gym will also be open for our use if
you brought balls along with you.
- Communications
- YAC adults will have Walkie
Talkies to help with communication.
- Be sure and check the message
board near the cafeteria for emergency messages to members of
your group.
Thanks for giving of your time, talents, and money to
be here and be a part of this weekend!! |
