Disciples of the Way

Disciples of the Way, the newest church in formation in the Christian Church in Georgia, is located in Hephzibah, GA, in the Augusta, GA metro area. Having spent some months meeting for Bible study in the home of the founding pastor, the first worship service is Sunday, November 30, 2025, at 5 pm, at Victoria’s Mexican Restaurant, 3714 Mike Padgett Hwy, Augusta, GA 30906. Worship gatherings continue on the 1st and 3rd Sundays at 5 pm, with rotating locations to be announced on social media and other outlets. Rev. Neil Tellier is serving as the founding pastor.

Affirmed as a church in formation at the November 8, 2025 Regional Board meeting, the church stated this in its proposal:

“We believe that God has called us to form an inclusive, affirming, and justice-oriented congregation that reflects the radical love of Jesus. As we place ourselves under the spiritual care and guidance of New Church Ministry, we commit to growth, accountability, and faithful partnership in ministry. Together with our regional family, we hope to serve as witnesses to Christ’s reconciling love and transforming grace in our community and beyond.

“Our Vision is to build a community where all are welcomed at Christ’s Table, where justice is lived out in love, and where the poor and marginalized are centered as bearers of God’s image and instruments of grace.

Our Mission is to follow Jesus Christ by proclaiming the good news, practicing radical hospitality, and engaging in transformative acts of service and justice. We seek to nurture spiritual wholeness, deepen discipleship, andbuild bridges of understanding in our community and throughout the world.”

A core component of Disciples of the Way’s mission is their outreach ministry, "Nonviolent Medicaid Army,” with plans to host monthly “People’s Clinics” in locations strategically chosen to be accessible to homeless and low-income individuals. During these clinics, the church plans to offer vital services such as blood pressure and blood glucose checks, distribute important community information, assist folks with Medicaid sign-ups, and conduct sacred healthcare story surveys to better understand and advocate for community needs.
