A Message from the Regional Minister
Dear Disciples of Christ in Georgia,
Grace and peace to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
It is with deep joy and humble gratitude that I write to you as your new Regional Minister. Over the past few weeks, I have been blessed to begin meeting many of you—through conversations, worship, fellowship, and shared ministry. Each encounter has been a beautiful reminder that the Spirit of God is moving powerfully among us. Your love for the Church, your commitment to Christ, and your care for one another have already made a lasting impression on me.
In this season of new beginnings, I am reminded of God’s promise in Isaiah 43:19: “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?”
Indeed, I believe God is doing a new thing here in Georgia. There is fresh energy, renewed hope, and a deep well of faith in our congregations and communities. I feel it in every handshake, every prayer, and every story I’ve heard so far.
I also want to take a moment to give thanks for the faithful leadership of Rev. Joan Bell-Haynes, who served as your Interim Regional Minister with grace, courage, and deep spiritual wisdom. In times of transition, it takes a steady and Spirit-led hand to guide the church, and Rev. Bell-Haynes offered just that. Her love for the Region and her care for each of you created the space for new leadership to step in with peace and confidence. I am deeply grateful for her ministry and her partnership in this sacred handoff.
As I continue to listen, learn, and walk alongside you, I am filled with anticipation for what God is doing—and will do—in and through this Region. We are a people of covenant, called to embody the Good News in a world that deeply needs healing, justice, and compassion. Together, guided by the Spirit and rooted in our Disciples identity, we will explore new ways to be Church: faithful, creative, inclusive, and bold.
In the coming months, I look forward to continuing this journey of connection: hearing your stories, celebrating your ministries, and discerning together where God is leading. Please know that my door—and heart—are open. I would love to hear from you. You can reach me anytime here.
Thank you for the warm welcome I have already received. Thank you for the work you are doing every day to bring Christ’s love into the world. And thank you for allowing me to serve among you in this new season of ministry.
With gratitude and hope,
Rev. Dr. Adam Harmon
Regional Minister
