Disciples Women at 2025 Fall Retreat

By Rev. Lainie Jenkins

Away from the chaos and clutter at beautiful Epworth by the Sea, we were nourished by fellowship with Disciples Women from all over GA and beyond. Nearly 80 beautiful, love-filled Disciples Women gathered September 26-28 at this historic site to retreat, relax, and regenerate.  Entering softly into the weekend with a Friday evening Vespers Service, mandala creation, and intentional time out from the world outside, paved the way for all to learn more about our spiritual gifts on Saturday morning. Workshops on spiritual gifts, ways to pray, card-making, and prayer beads, completed the morning.  On Saturday afternoon, Saint Simons Island provided the opportunity to wander through God’s creation, enjoy an arts festival, or just head to the pier or beach.  After free time, line dancing brought everyone back together for another whole way to leave the chaos and clutter of the world behind us.  Sunday Bible study, followed by worship, complete with wonderful music, communion, and prayers from around the state (and from as far away as Michigan),  filled our hearts.  Disciples Women, both young and seasoned, ended the weekend feeling refreshed, full of gratitude, and spiritually energized to go out into the world to all the work that women do every day.
