Gathering at the 172nd Regional Assembly
Make it stand out
One of the enduring gifts of our life together as the Christian Church in Georgia is the opportunity to gather—to worship, to listen, and to discern together how God is calling us to live faithfully in this moment.
Our 172nd Regional Assembly will take place April 23–25, 2026, at Ray of Hope Christian Church in Decatur, and registration is now open. I hope congregations, clergy, chaplains, and lay leaders across the Region will make plans to attend and participate in this important time in our shared life.
This year’s theme, “Walking in CommUNITY - Arise! Awake! Activate!!!,” invites us to pay attention to the ways God continues to work among us and to consider how we respond together as a covenant people. Regional Assembly is one of the primary places where that shared work becomes visible—through worship, learning, service, conversation, and the faithful ordering of our common life.
We will be guided during the Assembly by strong and faithful leadership. Rev. Terri Hord Owens, General Minister and President of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), will offer the keynote address, and Rev. Dr. Cynthia Hale will lead us in Bible study and reflection. Their presence and teaching will help ground our time together in wisdom, faith, and hope. In addition, clergy will have an opportunity to explore the topic of self-care with Rev. Kinsie M. Tate, LPCC, in a Pre-Assembly Clergy Gathering that begins Thursday evening.
Friday evening worship will also include my installation as Regional Minister. I share this not as a personal milestone, but as a moment of prayer and commitment within the larger life of the Region. Installation is a reminder that ministry is never carried alone and that leadership in the church is always received in trust, accountability, and shared responsibility. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve and for the community that continues to shape and support this ministry.
Alongside worship and learning, the Assembly will include a region-wide service project (blessing bags), opportunities for connection across congregations and ministry settings, and the business of the church entrusted to us. Each part of the gathering reflects who we are as a people seeking to walk together faithfully.
Whether Regional Assembly is a long-standing practice for you or something you have not attended in recent years, I hope you will consider joining us this April. Your presence strengthens our common life and contributes to the discernment we share as the Christian Church in Georgia.
I look forward to being with you as we gather, listen, and walk together in community.
Blessings,
Rev. Adam
