Regional Leadership
The Search Committee was nominated and approved on April 27, 2024, at the Georgia Regional Assembly. From the start, the Search Committee’s work was shaped by prayer and seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Over a period of several months, they proceeded to solicit and receive input from individuals, churches, and groups about the Region and what they were looking for in a candidate for Regional Minister.
Taking this feedback into consideration, the Committee then developed the Profile and the Job Description for the Regional Minister. These documents were presented and approved by the Regional Board in November 2024, and then were submitted through Search and Call. After the application deadline, the committee met with our mentor who counseled them on reviewing the profiles and shared the results of the independent evaluator. The final candidates were vetted and interviewed and the committee prayerfully and carefully arrived at a final candidate. The Committee presented their recommendation to the Regional Board on June 7, 2025, which met, interviewed the candidate, and then voted unanimously to accept the candidate. The Called Regional Assembly
The Regional Assembly was held on Saturday July 26, 2025, at First Christian Church, Macon. The Assembly was led by Moderator Paula Robin and included hymns, prayer, scripture, and communion. Rev. Doug Ivey, Search Committee Chair, presented the Search Committee Report which included the statement from the Search Committee prepared for the Regional Assembly. During the question and answer period that followed, Dr. Harmon answered questions and discussed his relational approach to ministry, clergy wellness and self-care, Anti-Racism/ Pro-Reconciliation work, the Table as the guiding principle of Disciples congregations, open and affirming congregations, and his family. As required by the Regional Constitution and Bylaws, the Regional Board brought a motion to the Regional Assembly to extend a call to the Rev. Dr. Adam Harmon for Regional Minister of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Georgia. Following this, the Assembly voted overwhelmingly to call Dr. Harmon as our next Regional Minister.
