Understanding Christian Nationalism: A Webinar for Georgia Disciples

Rev. Beau Underwood, co-author of Baptizing America: How Mainline Protestants Helped Build Christian Nationalism, published by Chalice Press, is coming (virtually) to Georgia Disciples on Monday June 16, 2025, to participate in a June webinar series on understanding Christian nationalism.

According to the organization Christians Against Christian Nationalism, Christian nationalism is “a political ideology and cultural framework that merges American and Christian identities. Christian Nationalism threatens American democracy, distorts America's promise of religious freedom for all, and distorts Christianity by taking its central message as a gospel of love and turning it into a false idol of power.”  Learn more about Christian nationalism from this list of resources curated by the Christian Church in Georgia.

Several Georgia Disciples clergy-scholars, including Rev. Dr. Jerry Gladson, Rev. Dr. Jarrod Longbons, Rev. Dr. Stan Saunders, and Rev. Dr. Darryl Trimiew, will be leading this series of virtual meetings in June. More information coming soon!
